The CX Ambassador Group

At Computronix, we often do things differently than other companies. Not for the sake of innovation or being unique or anything else, but simply because we believe that sometimes the traditional methods aren’t the best ones. One example of this is the Ambassador Group, which serves as a recruitment group – and so much more! The ambassadors are all Computronix employees – mostly developers – who have volunteered to be part of spreading the word about Computronix to prospective employees through various career fairs and partnerships with schools. Chris Johnstone, the co-chair of the group, describes their goals as “making […]

The Tech Lead Fast Track Course

Computronix has a strong emphasis on professional growth and development. Employees are encouraged and given opportunities to learn and become better at their jobs, and even to move into new positions if they so desire. One of the ways the company provides learning opportunities is through programs, courses and classes, such as the Supervisor Training course, or the recent Tech Lead Fast Track program. In the pilot Tech Lead Fast Track program, a group of employees were selected who were currently performing in a lead developer or an entry level tech lead role.    The goal of the pilot launch was […]

Interview With Luke Ogg, Product Owner

For our Computronix employee interviews, we sit down with people from all levels of our company and ask them about their jobs, and what it’s like working for Computronix. One of the most unique positions at Computronix is that of the product owners. There are only two product owners in the company, and Luke Ogg is one of them. Specifically, he is the POSSE Land Management System (POSSE LMS) Product Owner, and he describes himself as being constantly “deep in the next release of LMS.” His role consists of constantly trying to improve the product, and evaluating the many ideas […]

Interview With Eissa Pavo, Developer

For our Computronix employee interviews, we sit down with people from all levels of our company and ask them about their jobs, and what it’s like working for Computronix. It can be scary to start a new job at a new company. There’s often uncertainty about whether you’re going to get along with your co-workers, how much you’re going to have to learn, and all the other things that go along with the transition. When Eissa Pavo started at Computronix a year ago, she had many of those same fears and worries. It was her first time working in the […]

Interview With Daniel Magill, Developer

For our Computronix employee interviews, we sit down with people from all levels of our company and ask them about their jobs, and what it’s like working for Computronix. At Computronix, employees are frequently given opportunities to learn and grow and try new things. A common mantra is that “we don’t put people in boxes.” If someone expresses an interest in a certain position or type of work, they are generally given the freedom to explore that interest. Likewise, if a supervisor sees that a member of their team has an aptitude in a certain area, they encourage them to […]

Interview with Chris Johnstone, Developer

For our Computronix employee interviews, we sit down with people from all levels of our company and ask them about their jobs, and what it’s like working for Computronix. The stereotypical computer programmer is quiet, probably introverted, and perhaps even kind of awkward. Chris Johnstone does not fit the stereotype. “I have kind of an outgoing skillset, it’s not the most common thing around programmers,” he admits early in our interview. He injects passion and expression into the stories he tells as we discuss his time working for Computronix, a place that he obviously loves. After graduating from post-secondary education, […]

Interview with Herman Leusink, Founder (Part 1)

For our Computronix employee interviews, we sit down with people from all levels of our company and ask them about their jobs, and what it’s like working for Computronix. Just before his interview, Herman Leusink was in the main kitchen of the Computronix offices, working on a puzzle. He slotted a couple pieces of a butterfly’s wing into place, adding to the forest scene, then led the way down the hall to his corner office, located directly below the “CX Place” sign which hangs on the outside of the building. His office isn’t what you might expect from the retired […]

This is Part 2 of an interview series. Please read Part 1 first For any company to survive for over 35 years, especially in the technology industry, they have to be innovative and do something different then the majority of businesses. That could mean creating an exceptional product, providing excellent service, or simply meeting an essential need. As the long-time leader of Computronix, Herman Leusink was responsible for steering the company, […]
