Surrey, B.C., using POSSE for Licensing and Bylaw Enforcement

May 10, 2000

The City of Surrey, B.C., has launched the first phase of a city-wide initiative to streamline the City's business processes. Starting with business licensing and bylaw enforcement, the City will use POSSE to help manage and improve how the City does business.

POSSE, the award-winning work management system from Edmonton-based Computronix, is now used in several cities and counties across North America for licensing, planning and development, permitting and remote inspections, desktop mapping and GIS, Internet access and much more.

"The choice to go with POSSE is a corporate initiative. POSSE will be implemented into other City departments over time," says Gary Jurkowski, Project Manager, Information Technology Division of the City of Surrey. "We are impressed with what we can do with POSSE, as well as the level of service Computronix has given us in getting this project underway."

With a population of approximately 330,000, Surrey is located in the Greater Vancouver area of coastal British Columbia. Surrey prides itself on having a strong information technology department. POSSE gives the City a business tool that is not only flexible, but highly functional as well. A significant aspect of POSSE is that it is configured to each organization's unique business processes and data without additional programming.

"It has been a great opportunity to work with Surrey on implementing POSSE," says Albert Langemann, POSSE Business Manager. "The City will be a great showcase for the surrounding cities, some of whom have already shown interest."
