Computronix NewsStrathcona County to use POSSE for Planning and DevelopmentMarch 26, 2001 Strathcona County, Alberta, has purchased POSSE®, the work management system by Computronix, for its Development Planning and Review Services to help manage the growing number of development activities within the County. Strathcona County's Development Control and Permitting Branch is responsible for issuing building, development and other related permits to ensure compliance with current regulations and legislation. This includes zoning compliance, subdivision and land use approvals, and bylaw and municipal development plan amendments. Located just east of Edmonton, Strathcona County has almost 1000 housing starts annually, with a population base of over 65,000. "We're looking forward to getting the POSSE project underway," said Richard Kirke, ISP, Coordinator for Business Applications at Strathcona County. "We plan to start with development permits, building, gas, plumbing, electrical, and private sewage disposal permits, and then add additional permit types over time. We also plan to integrate POSSE with our ESRI GIS system and take advantage of the workflow management capabilities in POSSE to improve our permitting process." "This project is unique in that not only is Strathcona County in our backyard, but we'll be providing configuration services over a VPN that will connect us to the County's POSSE server," said Murray Larkins, Account Manager for Computronix. "Using a virtual private network, Computronix staff will be able to configure POSSE from our office and still provide the highest level of customer service." The Development Control and Permitting Branch will also be utilizing the powerful remote computing technology of POSSE Remote. "As part the County's permitting process, inspections are most often required. The POSSE Remote module will enable our inspectors to do their jobs more effectively and efficiently," said Kirke. Strathcona County is also looking at POSSE as part of its electronic document management system. The County's POSSE project will begin in April. –30– |
