Manitoba RTB to use POSSE for Case Management

July 2, 2002

The Residential Tenancies Branch (RTB) of Manitoba’s Consumer and Corporate Affairs has selected POSSE to support the internal business processes of the Branch. The RTB and the Residential Tenancies Commission are responsible for administering the laws and regulations that govern the rights of landlords and tenants within the Province of Manitoba.

POSSE will be used for case management, scheduling, document management, building registry, cash management and reporting for the Branch. POSSE will provide access to all information in both official languages. POSSE will support ongoing improvements to business rules and processes.

“POSSE will improve service delivery through faster resolution of tenant/landlord issues, automate existing manual and paper intensive processes and provide staff and management with timely access to information” says Anne McEachern, Manager, Branch Support Services, Manitoba Consumer and Corporate Affairs.

POSSE is a highly flexible and adaptable work management system that incorporates a hybrid of user platforms of client-server, browser, and remote applications. POSSE is being used at the municipal, county and provincial levels, as well as in private industry for a variety of work management and enforcement activities.

“Being selected by the RTB again proves the flexibility of POSSE, and that POSSE can be applied to a wide scope of business areas and business processes within an organization,” said Don Smallwood, Vice-President of Computronix. Subsequent uses of POSSE within the RTB could include supporting rent regulation activity as well as client-initiated service requests and inquiries generated via the Internet.

The RTB is responsible to fulfill the Manitoba Residential Tenancies Act, the Condominium Act, and the Life Leases Act. The Branch serves approximately 350,000 Manitoba residents who rent 140,000 rental units, including mobile homes, life lease apartments and condominiums province wide.
