Earthwon to Enable New OGC Services

British Columbia's Oil and Gas Commission (OGC) will implement Earthwon® Enterprise Environmental Software from Computronix, as part of its technology migration strategy to enable a new service delivery model, improve customer service, and support continuing growth in the BC oil and gas industry.

The Commission regulates oil, natural gas, and pipeline activities throughout British Columbia. It is mandated to provide efficient business processes for the review of geophysical, well, and pipeline applications, to ensure that decisions are made in the public interest as they relate to environmental, economic and social impacts, and to monitor ongoing compliance with regulations.

"Computronix gained valuable insights into OGC's business during a technology migration planning contract earlier in 2005," said Don Smallwood, Vice President, Computronix. "We look forward to partnering with OGC during the Earthwon implementation and beyond. Our Earthwon software will enable OGC to implement new service delivery models that assist in meeting the strategic business goals of OGC and help OGC become a showcase regulatory agency in British Columbia."

The Commission is redefining its service delivery model to improve both effectiveness and efficiency. The growth in the oil and gas industry across the province and the increased volume of business handled by the Commission is a key driver for implementing Earthwon.

"Our procurement process has been designed to ensure that the Commission has access to the best blend of talent, services, and technology to support our business transformation," said Larry London of the Commission. "Earthwon will help the Commission streamline and Web-enable our business processes to better serve our customers across the province, and help us adapt to ongoing business and organizational changes within our industry."

Earthwon will enable a "one-window" strategy to provide clients with a wide variety of application processing and compliance services, and will reduce processing times for pipeline, well, and geophysical applications. Using Earthwon's workflow capabilities, the Commission will be implementing its new business processes in phases, starting with pipeline related activities.

Earthwon provides the flexibility, scalability, and maintainability needed to incorporate new business processes as regulatory requirements evolve over time. Regardless of their location, all external agencies and stakeholders will be able to collaborate on OGC activities.
