Computronix NewsCalifornia selects POSSE for Alcoholic Beverage ControlComputronix awarded ABC Licensing and Compliance System contractJanuary 2007 The State of California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has selected POSSE® as the new technology for its Licensing and Compliance System (LCS) project. POSSE was chosen for its ability to meet ABC’s unique liquor licensing, enforcement/ compliance, hearings and legal case management, and accounting requirements. POSSE will replace the California Alcoholic Beverage Information Network (CABIN) system and help automate and unify processes and activities in all ABC offices across the State. “One of the key benefits we expect from using POSSE as our core LCS environment will be improved customer service and the ability to exchange data with our external stakeholders, other State agencies and the public,” said Dennis Clear, ABC Assistant Director of Administration. The new LCS will allow ABC to meet its mandated responsibilities while helping ABC staff do their job more effectively and efficiently using current and consistent data, and help provide better service to customers and stakeholders. "Our award-winning POSSE Business Process Management software continues to demonstrate its superior strength, suitability and adaptability for liquor control and licensing activities," said Keith Burgess, Business Development Manager. "The addition of the State of California to our client list, which already includes the British Columbia Liquor Control and Licensing Branch, makes Computronix and POSSE a very compelling IT solution for government alcoholic beverage control and enforcement agencies across North America." The California ABC LCS project will be deployed across the State in a browser-based environment using POSSE Internet technology. POSSE configuration and system administration functions will be managed using POSSE client-server applications. Computronix (USA), Inc., in collaboration with Computronix (Canada) Ltd., and Sumrall Solutions of California will work with ABC staff to implement the new system. The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) administers the provisions of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, which governs 74,000 licensed businesses throughout the State. ABC is responsible for the licensing and compliance of persons and businesses that manufacture, import, distribute and sell alcoholic beverages in California. California has a population of over 33 million people. –30– For more information on California ABC, visit http://www.abc.ca.gov |
