B.C. Environment to use Earthwon System

February 8, 2006

The British Columbia Ministry of Environment will be using the Earthwon® Enterprise Environmental Software, by Computronix, to support water management and environmental licensing and permitting activities within the Ministry. The first two projects to be implemented using Earthwon are the Authorization Management System (AMS) project and AquaTerIS project.

“The primary goal of the Ministry is to ensure that British Columbia is a world leader in sustainable environmental management, with the best air and water quality, and the best fisheries management,” said Gary Cooney, CIO, Ministry of Agriculture and Lands and Ministry of Environment. “Earthwon will give us the ability to effectively manage all the environmental regulatory work we do.”

The AquaTerIS project will use Earthwon software for water management, which includes the business functions associated with processing of water license applications, licensing of water rights, issuance of licenses, approvals and permits, financial management in respect of fees, rentals and charges payable for those rights, dam safety management, water user community management, reporting, and more.

The AMS project will use Earthwon software to support the business of environmental authorizations and compliance. This includes waste management, pesticide management, parks and protected areas management, fish and wildlife management, agriculture licensing, and conservation services.

“We are definitely excited about the growing use of Earthwon in B.C.,” said Murray Larkins, Business Development Manager, Computronix. “Earthwon will help the Ministry to streamline environmental processes, and improve monitoring, reporting and compliance activities throughout the province.”

Other planned phases using Earthwon include Crown Land management to assist the Province with the management of provincial land resources, including land sales, land tenure management and the administration of the British Columbia Land Act.

The Computronix Earthwon system is the only metadata-driven business process management software in the marketplace that provides a unique blend of project management, data management, workflow management, and document management. Based in Edmonton, Computronix was founded in 1979 and has built a reputation of excellence and trust, based on quality software solutions, delivery, and service with both government and private industry clients.
